Monday, June 27

couple of weeks ago kamaia and i got on a bus  with about 40 seniors (i'm being nice, we were the youngest by circa 60 years) and visited a few different sri lankan buddhist temples. it was really rad. we got the whole deal; tours, inspirational talks by legit monks and of course, quality conversation about religion and life with the wise oldies.
the whole thing was organised and funded by the counsel's interfaith program, which a lady in my ward is part of. i've been to a few of these interfaith events, and they're really great. despite having strong faith in my own beliefs, it's always an eye opening and bonding experience to interact and learn about other religions and views of life.

also, i blame my blog-absence on my lack of photoshop. not that i claim to know how to really do anything on it but since having upgraded my mac i haven't been able to buy it yet. pity us students.

just a couple of photo's of my last day in austria.
definitely amongst a small group of people in this world that i would do absolutely anything for, my friend anna took a seedy night train from berlin, via prague, to surprise me in graz (austria) for my last few precious hours in europe. seriously, is she not the best?! did i mention she was on crutches at the time?
so we made and ate delicious food with my sister & her wonderful family, ventured out into the freezing, but beautiful, city (including climbing the massive hill to the clock tower), played games and listened to wonderful music.
as always, good food, great company & conversation brings the most happiness.

well, autumn is officially over. don't get me wrong though, i was way too excited than i should have been when the first snowflakes started falling on my face.
i've had a wonderful day, including what you can see above, free art galleries and an amazing night of music, which i will post more about later. promise. it's worth it.

missing you lot's, my crazy, free spirited, wonderful, fun travelling accomplice.

Sunday, November 21

After Switzerland, it was just my backpack, my interrail pass and myself. All I knew is that I wanted to experience more culture, meet people from different walks of life and see some pretty sights. I had a few countries in mind that I definitely wanted to see, so I checked the weather and decided on Paris.

It was my first trip there (came back a couple of weeks later) and I must say, it was so much more than I expected. I could have happily just wandered the streets all day in complete awe of the architecture and pure beauty of these buildings, listening to the language, crépe in hand.

Monday, October 18

Once we finally arrived in Kreuzlingen, made our way to the church where we were immediately welcomed and offered a place to stay for the night. As usual, we had nothing booked and were just going to stay at the airport if we found nothing. But the family that invited us to their house were so great! Because it was my birthday they threw together an amazing lunch and we hung out with their kids who were our age and cousin and went swimming in the beautiful lake around the corner from their house. Perfect weather, perfect day.
(unfortunately I didn't take any photos)
The next day, before we made our way up to Melchtaal, Rebecca showed us around the town a bit.
First stop: chocolate store. We were after all in Switzerland.

(this one's for you Anders ;) )
