1. Eat, Pray, Love.

Well, I finally finished it this morning. I don't really want to say too much, since I am in no way a book critic, but I must say I enjoyed it quite a bit.
It follows the journey of Elizabeth Gilbert, as she searches to find balance, peace and tranquility in solitude. It is divided into 3 sections, beginning with four months in Rome, where she eats incredible amounts of pasta and learns the language of love, followed by another four months in an Ashram in India. There she mediated and was able to find peace within herself and her surroundings. I must say, that that part of the book was definitely my favourite. Don't be surprised if one day, I pack up and decide to spend a couple of months meditating with a Buddhist Guru.
The third part of the book takes her to Indonesia where, combined with her previous travels, she finds a balance in life and eventually learns to love again. Like the title say's: Eat, Pray, Love.
It's honestly not the kind of thing that I would usually pick up to read, but Oprah, and the huge number of women coming into the shop after it, convinced me this time, to at least give it a go, and like I said already, I actually liked it a lot.

Happiness is the consequence of personal effort. You fight for it, strive for it, insist upon it, and sometimes even travel around the world looking for it. You have to participate relentlessly in the manifestations of your own blessings. And once you have achieved a state of happiness, you must never become lax about maintaining it. You must make a mighty effort to keep swimming upward into that happiness forever, to stay afloat on top of it."
